Chelle still remembers the first time as a kid declaring "when I grow up, I want to be an artist!" From that moment she has pursued that passion. She earned her degrees in Studio Arts from UVA and in Interior Design from Marymount. From there she has worked in art galleries, the bead making and jewelry industry, and has spent the last 15 years teaching arts and crafts classes to all ages. Teaching the arts is where she has found it most rewarding to use her talents and experience. Her favorite moment in class is the reveal at the end when everyone sees each other's paintings and are truly impressed with what they've created. She loves to see the individuality in everyone's paintings. It truly shows how even the most novice painter can find a unique style in just a short 2-hour painting session. She loves tapping into that "maybe I can be an artist when I grow up" energy in everyone she meets.

Asha's love of art was sparked when she was in middle school. From there, she has put her all into her art practice. She graduated from VCU in 2022 with a bachelor's degree in painting and printmaking. Oil paint is her preferred medium however, she makes use of various mediums such as acrylic, charcoal, graphite, markers and more. The purpose of her work is to connect individuals and create conversation among people through discomfort. Many of her pieces involve an exploration into subject matter that people don't like to talk about such as race and sexuality. The goal of her work can best be summed up with a quote by Ricky Lee Gordon, "I am trying to create beauty in my work that allows for beauty in other people."
